Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY Performs activities related to denials, unresolved payments and refunds. Performs activities related to denial, unresolved payment and refund functions for the Patient Accounting Department in coordination with other revenue cycle functions to meet customer requirements, maximize revenue collection, and achieve best practice targets. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: * High School Diploma is required. One or two years of college preferred. EXPERIENCE: * At least 5 years hospital business office experience or a minimum of 5 years experience in the collection field. * Overall knowledge of business office procedures and hospital policies. General knowledge of third party payors, collection procedures, and collection laws. * Excellent telephone communication skills. Computer literacy required. * Working knowledge/familiarity of basic medical terminology. * Customer service oriented, which includes the ability to interact professionally and handle sensitive information/issues in a confidential, respectful, assertive and empathetic manner in difficult interpersonal situations. CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: * HMFA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative- must be completed within 1 year of hire date . PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position. Daily Productivity: 150 Billing edits resolved or 50 claims worked on Follow up/Denial -Numbers can change based off complexity Will require training of Employees as needed Should be comfortable to work independently, with little to no leadership intervention WORK ENVIRONMENT This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching for the majority of the workday. Works with such equipment as computer terminal, fax machine, printer and copier. The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP This position reports to department leadership.
