California Privacy Notice

This California Privacy Notice explains how Women's Job list collects, uses, discloses, sells, or shares personal information about California residents in connection with https://womensjoblist.com/ and related services. It supplements our Privacy Policy and uses terms defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act.

1. Scope

This notice covers personal information we collect online and offline from California residents during the 12 months preceding the revision date and going forward. It includes a notice at collection, our data practices, and your rights.

Categories we collect

  • Identifiers - name, alias, email address, postal address, phone number, device identifiers, IP address, account identifiers. Typical retention - account lifetime plus 3 to 7 years.
  • Customer records - resume or CV details, work and education history, skills, job preferences, job applications, communications with employers or recruiters. Typical retention - account lifetime plus 3 to 7 years.
  • Protected classification information - optional demographics you provide such as gender or age range. We do not require this information. Typical retention - account lifetime or until you remove it.
  • Commercial information - records of services requested or obtained, subscription choices, interactions with messages. Typical retention - 3 to 7 years.
  • Internet or other electronic network activity - browsing history on our site, clicks, pages viewed, referral URLs, access dates and times, device and browser information, cookies and similar technologies. Typical retention - 6 to 36 months depending on the technology.
  • Geolocation data - approximate location from IP address. We do not collect precise geolocation unless you explicitly permit it. Typical retention - 6 to 24 months for logs.
  • Professional or employment-related information - see customer records above. Typical retention - account lifetime plus 3 to 7 years.
  • Education information - if included in your resume or profile. Typical retention - account lifetime plus 3 to 7 years.
  • Inferences - preferences or propensity scores derived from other data to help recommend jobs and content. Typical retention - 12 to 24 months.
  • Sensitive personal information - we generally do not need sensitive personal information. If you include sensitive data in your resume or messages, you do so voluntarily. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require offering a right to limit under California law, except where you choose features that need such data or where permitted by law. Typical retention - only as necessary for the disclosed purpose.

Purposes of collection and use

  • Provide, personalize, and improve the site and services.
  • Enable job search, applications, resume hosting, and employer or recruiter communications.
  • Operate ATS integrations you request and transmit your applications.
  • Communicate about your account, services, and job alerts you request, and send marketing as allowed by law.

  • Detect, investigate, and prevent security incidents, fraud, abuse, and illegal activity.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Sources of personal information

  • Directly from you - account creation, profile, resume uploads, applications, communications, surveys.
  • Automatically from your device and use of the site or emails - cookies, pixels, SDKs, logs, and similar technologies.
  • From third parties - employers, recruiters, ATS providers, co-registration and marketing partners, analytics and advertising partners, data brokers, and public sources as allowed by law.

Retention approach

  • We retain personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described above, including to provide services, comply with law, resolve disputes, and secure our services.
  • We use criteria such as the type of data, your account status and activity, and legal obligations to determine retention.
  • When retention is no longer necessary, we delete or de-identify information unless we must keep it to comply with law or for legitimate business purposes.

3. Disclosures for business purposes

We disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients for business and operational purposes

  • Service providers and contractors - hosting, security, maintenance, email, analytics, customer support, payment processing, advertising and measurement, and similar services.
  • Employers, recruiters, and ATS platforms - when you apply, share your resume, or ask us to submit your information.
  • Affiliates and corporate transaction counterparties - in connection with mergers, acquisitions, or asset transfers.
  • Legal and safety recipients - law enforcement, regulators, courts, or others when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

4. Sale or sharing of personal information

Some of our disclosures to analytics and advertising partners may be considered a sale of personal information or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

5. Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information

  • If we process sensitive personal information beyond exempt purposes, California residents may direct us to limit its use and disclosure to the purposes permitted by California Civil Code 1798.121.
  • Currently, we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information in a way that requires offering this right, except if you enable a feature that needs it. If that changes, we will provide a Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information option and update this notice.

6. Your California privacy rights

You may exercise these rights, subject to legal exceptions

  • Know - request the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, the sources, purposes, and categories of recipients, including sale or sharing.
  • Access and portability - obtain a copy of your personal information in a portable format.
  • Delete - request deletion of personal information we collected from you.
  • Correct - request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out - opt out of sale or sharing of personal information and opt out of targeted advertising and certain profiling where applicable.
  • Limit sensitive personal information - as described in section 5 if applicable.
  • Non-discrimination - we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
  • Opt-in for minors - we do not sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 without valid opt-in.

Verification and authorized agents

  • We will verify your request by matching information you provide with data in our records. If we cannot verify the request, we may ask for more information or deny the request.
  • You may designate an authorized agent to submit requests. Agents must provide proof of authorization, and we may still require you to verify your identity directly.

Appeals and response times

  • If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision email with Appeal in the subject line or by contacting [email protected]. If your appeal is denied, you may contact the California Attorney General.
  • We will respond within 45 days where feasible, with a possible 45 day extension when reasonably necessary.

Important notes

  • Choices are browser- and device-specific. Set preferences on each browser and device.
  • If you clear cookies, you may need to reapply preferences.
  • We do not control third party opt-out tools and are not responsible for their operation.
  • You may still receive contextual ads and non-targeted measurement or analytics after opting out.
  • We may continue to share certain data with service providers acting on our behalf for measurement, frequency capping, security, anti-fraud, and similar purposes.
  • We honor supported browser-based opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control for sale or sharing.

8. Shine the Light disclosure

California Civil Code 1798.83 permits California residents to request information regarding the disclosure of certain personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

9. Data retention

We retain personal information as described in section 2. When retention is no longer necessary, we will delete or de-identify the information unless we must keep it to comply with law or for legitimate business purposes. We may retain cached or archived copies for a limited time.

10. Minors

Our services are intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We do not sell or share personal information of users we know are under 16.
