American Crystal Sugar Company, Shift Supervisor. 2007 to 2017 Supervised 35 to 40 people on shift. Maximized On-Farm Profits while ensuring Safety and Product Quality. Verified lab samples and HACCP criteria were met as well as food safety, quality and sanitation requirements. Organized and managed maintenance repairs, coordinated yard activities of payloaders, farm trucks and contractors. Interviewed new employees and conducted training. Gave monthly company safety meetings. Performed disciplinary actions as needed.
The Nature Conservancy, Preserve Management Assistant. 2003 to 2007
Restored the land formally known as Tilden Farms into pre-agricultural condition through; prairie restoration practices, prescribed burning, native seed harvest, native seed planting, snow seeding, control of noxious weeds like Leafy Spurge and Spotted Knap Weed, weir construction and ditch filling, wetland restoration, seed sampling, seed drying and storage and performing surveys and tests to measure our success. Giving tours and working with the public to promote the benefits of restoring the land back to native prairie, specifically erosion control, flood control and water quality.
Norther Paving Inc, Road Crew & Truck Driver. 1998 to 2003
Obtained a CDL driver’s license and drove truck hauling asphalt and other aggregate materials. Performed maintenance on equipment at a mobile bituminous asphalt plant. Road re-surfacing, ditch cleaning and highway overlay. Used surveying equipment.
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Burn Crew Member. 1994 to 1998
Worked on a field crew that maintained the wildlife management areas throughout Polk County by using clear-cutting, prescribed burning, noxious weed spraying, seeding and native Seed Harvesting practices. Maintained walking trails and public access areas. Built Wood Duck and Blue Bird nesting boxes and painted DNR signs.
US Army, Specialist. 1989 to 1992
Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Served two tours of duty in a combat zone during the 1991 Persian Gulf War. Conducted security duties and was a member of the rapid reaction force. Honorably Discharged.
Crookston Welding & Machine Company, Welder. 1985 to 1989, 1993 to 1998
Performed ARC, MIG and TIG welding, acetylene torch operation, hard surfacing, plasma-arc and other machine shop operations. Repairing farm equipment, balancing straw choppers and building grab rollers. Used metal brake, metal sheer equipment, hydraulic press and drill presses.
Flyin’ M Ranch, Ranch Hand. 1984 to 1988
Worked for the late Gene Miller and his wife Arlene on their personal horse ranch as a ranch hand taking care of their horses, mowing the grass, raking leaves, spreading manure and stacking hay bales.
