Senior Technical Writer, LIST Innovative Solutions (a subsidiary of SalientCRGT)            2015-2016

United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Executive Software Services Division (ESSD)

Under the Automated Information System (AIS) and eCommerce Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract, I successfully tracked every deliverable and detail for password change operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance for 58 computer systems under high-risk circumstances due to drastic budget cuts. I created a SharePoint site used to help management oversees those projects. I maintained and uploaded new and modified documents to that SharePoint site. I implemented a new organizational system on a different SharePoint site to organize weekly status reports, to make sure that all weekly status reports resided in a central location for configuration management and document access. I led the effort in creating a master folder for documentation and gathering missing high-level documents related to process and infrastructure for one major system. In addition to those task, I introduced and implemented new standards by creating resource documents whose effects are long-lasting and influence the future course of the company, such as a style guide, template, acronym list, organizational chart, email group, etc. I recorded meeting minutes for task order meetings with high-level management and the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR). I wrote, edited, rewrote, and reviewed manuals and related technical publications in clear and concise Standard American English (SAE) for 13 contracts.

Lead Technical Writer-Editor, Alion Science and Technology (Planning Operations, Integrated Technology Solutions Division)                                                                                                                                   2011-2015

Department of the Navy (DON) Program Executive Office Littoral Combat Ships (PEO LCS)

Navy Chief of Information (CHINFO) Media Monitoring Highlights:

  • Briefed the Admiral who served as the Chief of Naval Media and Media Monitoring Task Order (TO) Lead
  • Reviewed, analyzed, and compiled current events reports for 8,412 Navy personnel
  • Served at a senior technical writer level and reported findings to upper-level management
  • Collected current published and broadcast reports by news media and assembled into CHINFO News Clips for publication every weekday morning for organizational awareness of news cover

PEO LCS oversees six program offices; I supported all of them during my career, as required. I had the complete trust and confidence of the entire staff of the primary office I supports (PMS 420), as well as the remaining five offices. I edited plans, reports, and other documents from the program management office I supported primarily (PMS 420). I served as technical writer, grammar specialist, document coordinator, and chief compiler of several reports, plans, and other documentation from PMS 420. When team members struggled to find programmatic documentation, I created a configuration-controlled program-level document index via SharePoint site to assist with status reports. This, and other additions to the SharePoint site, improved document continuity, business communications, and product quality across the entire office. When team members struggled with meeting deadlines, it was my idea to use team performance metrics as positive incentive. I also coordinated logistics for successful reviews and status meetings. When working within condensed timelines, I was aware of the relationships between cost, schedule, and performance as it affected programs. The above accomplishments contributed to meeting program timelines while staying within target costs. I made sure that the team communicated financial issues to management in a clear and concise manner and that I communicated financial issues to the team for reports and meetings. My strong work ethic and desire to improve my knowledge and understanding of the program management processes and procedures were traits that made me valuable to the projects I supported.

Technical Writer, Booz Allen Hamilton                                                                                         2008-2011

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) – National Information Technology (IT) Training Academy (NTA)

(Last Primary Client)

I supervised a changing group of two to four interns in creating substantial and complex instructional materials for multiple one-week courses for my client. My team executed this task from start to finish and delivered on time despite a compressed schedule. I helped my team develop performance areas and standards for client staff and successfully helped my team provide training to the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA’s) Learning Management System (LMS) on schedule and supported my team in the goal of training client staff within budget on a $22 million contract. In terms of internal support, I showed initiative by spearheading the creation of a mentoring program within my team as the Sourcing and Recruiting Lead for the Civil Board Diversity Initiative (BDI). I was also invited to give an impromptu speech for a large All Hands meeting in the auditorium of the headquarters building, involving the presence of teleworkers from all over the country.

LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

Workshop Secretary, Planning Committee                                                                                   2014-2015

Asian American Government Executives Network (AAGEN)

I served as third in command and was instrumental to the success of the workshop and banquet by facilitating meetings, keeping track of all actions and adjudications, coordinating 50 high-level government and industry employees, and helping with time-critical logistics for an organization that worked within a $60-80K budget. I managed the meeting process by collecting team member contact information, informing the team of meeting logistics, formulating the agenda, facilitating meetings by allocating time for discussion, recording action items, allowing ample time for review and comment of the meeting minutes, and publishing meeting minutes. I created AAGEN’s professional annual workshop and banquet program book and compiled congressional letters, ads, biographies, logos, etc. The Vice Chief of Naval Operations, members of the House and Senate, rear admirals, brigadier generals, major generals, the Senior Executive Service (SES) Development Program (DP) graduating class, and about 400 government employees attended the event.
