2010 - 2011 Freelance Contributor for Patch.com

Writing and publishing news and features for a "hyperlocal" news website.  Coverage of community events and news, along with editorial and feature writing.  Areas of Michigan coverage include Shelby Township-Utica, Ferndale and Oakland Township.

2010     Internship - The Oakland PressThe Oakland Press

Writing and publishing features and news for a daily suburban newspaper.  News room assignments as well as outside coverage of events and interviews.  Successfully pitched story ideas, shot and edited video for the paper's website, photography.

2001-2006 Freelance Writer

Published a seven-part column (Feb.-Aug. 2006) on Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk preparation for Suburban Lifestyles - Troy edition.  Successfully raised $2,500 for breast cancer research.

Contributing writer to support group organization newsletter.

Authored two one-act plays for First Stage LA, a writing group in search of new material for stage and screen.  Both plays were performed and videotaped.

Entered numerous poems, articles and short stories in competitions.

2001-2006 Private Feline Adoptions

One-woman rescue and foster care operation specializing in cats and kittens.  Responsibilities included daily care and feeding of animals, answering adoption inquiries, screening potential adopters and the actual adoption of the animals.

Designed logo, composed contract based on Michigan Humane Society's model, and established a homepage on Petfinder.com.  Self-supported operation through adoption fees and donations.

Delphi Automotive - Intellectual Property Liaison

Coordinated and tracked paperwork for inventions submitted for review; compiled schedule for review meetings; traveled to Vandalia, Ohio facility to moderate review meetings; entered dispositions into legal database; administered intellectual property training and assisted with product liability training.

Delphi Automotive - Administrative Assistant - Product Engineering Department

Organized the department and created a procedure manual for the position; ordered office supplies; booked travel arrangements; assisted with planning of intellectual property awards banquet; filled in for executive secretarial staff as needed.

Worked with users, and the manager of systems documentation and training to write procedures and document process flows during upgrade of JD Edwards system.  The position required editing and writing skills, a basic understanding of the JD Edwards system and the ability to comprehend the processes in order to document them.

Ryder Automotive Carrier Services - Executive Assistant to Chief Financial Officer

Assisted with due diligence; managed executive calendar; processed payables and acted as liaison for building maintenance.
