Description:

This project reports on the design and implementation of a PLC-based controller for a four level elevator. The PLC used is an Omron Sysmac C20K with 12 inputs and 8 outputs. The design incorporates an intelligent controller that services all the requests in an energy-saving way, rather than on a first-come, first-served basis.

\\r\\n

 

\\r\\n

                As a practical compromise between energy consumption and speed of response we decided to combine all requests going in one direction(up/down) and then processes them in sequential order. If the lift is going up all ‘up’ requests are given higher priority than ‘down’ requests until the elevator reaches the last destination upwards.

\\r\\n

Hardware Design:

\\r\\n

           

\\r\\n

            The objective of hardware design is to develop the interface circuit between the PLC & push buttons that send continues signals to plc. Each push button is connected to an LED to identify the request placed. we should make sure that plc is recognizing these signals in order for it to correctly perform the request action.

 In this project, we have learnt the various steps and processes in the Programmable Logic Controller. We have also learnt how to program a device using the STEP 7 LITE. The various counters and timers are used for the sequential control of the processes in the Elevator control system.

\\r\\n

                The PLC has replaced the hardwired and manual control of various processes and sequences which have been proved to be inefficient. The various inputs and output modules of the PLC are used for carrying out the various processes.

\\r\\n
