Carried out a project entitled “Single Nucleotide Polymorphism of Calcitonin Receptor Gene in South Indians”. The project was carried out during my undergraduate education, at the JainInstitute of Vocational and Advanced Studies, Bangalore. The objective of this study is to determine the allelic frequency of the CTR gene in South India, which would be helpful in unveiling the calcium metabolism involved in the disease etiology.
Carried out a project titled “Influence of the Chemokine Receptor CCR5 Gene Polymorphisms on Chronic Vascular Complications of Diabetes Mellitus” at the Department of Bioinformatics, SRM University, Chennai. The overall objective of this work is to determine if the genetic polymorphism in CCR5 gene has an influence on the systemic inflammatory states and the vascular complications on the whole in diabetic patients. This study would be helpful in identifying the genetic susceptibility of diabetic patients to inherit vascular complications and in decoding the biological mechanisms behind the complications due to this complex metabolic syndrome.
