Project on “Tinospora cordifolia A potential plant for immunomodulatory activity-a survey” at College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cheruvandoor, Kottayam.

The project included study of various immunomodulatory actions of Tinospora cordifolia.The medicinal properties incorporated are anti-diabetic, hypo-lipidemic, anti-neoplastic, cognitive, adaptogenic, aphrodisiac, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective effect.however there are limited invitro human studies to support this.Even though many compounds belongingto different classes such as alkaloids, diterpenoid lactones, glycosides, sesqui-terpenoids, phenolic, aliphatic and polysaccharides have been isolated from this plant.But it is not well known which of these compounds are responsible for various activities.Therefore it need further exploration of its details, pharmacological actions and mechanism of action.The main aim of this survey is to reinforce scientific reconfirmation of its immunological activities and invitro studies in humans.

As a member of the team i collected information about immunomodulatory action of Tinospora cordifolia by referring various scientific journals, reference books and internet facilities.
