Senior Superintendant of Physical Plant – UC Berkeley, College of Engineering, Berkeley, CA (02/05-09/2009) Manager of Operation and Facilities Management at Richmond Field Station. Responsible for overseeing and directing day-to-day physical plant maintenance, as well as, major/minor construction projects, at the University’s 150 acre research facility. Personnel Management • Managed all activities relating to skilled crafts, trades, service and administrative units; • Supervised emergency repair activities occurring before/during/after working hours. Evaluated emergency, prioritize, assign and direct the proper craft personnel/contractor. Budget • Developed, implemented and monitored $3.3M facility budget. Project Management • Assigned daily work schedules for 20+ staff involving maintenance of buildings, grounds, custodial, and infra structure, including : natural gas, 12kv, water\\sewer systems and roadways; • Prepared bid documents for major renovation and tenant improvements: selected contractor, supervised contractor work; negotiated change orders; authorized final payment; • Conducted town hall and department managers’ meetings to keep clients and associated departments informed on current and future project schedules. Safety • Coordinated construction project plan reviews with UC Fire Marshal and Environmental Health and Safety; • Conducted annual emergency preparedness drill in association with the Facility Emergency Plan.
