Work Experience
Worked at the Government Psychiatric Hospital and Federal School Of Occupational Therapy in Lagos, Nigeria, as a Locum Occupational Therapist, from March to July , and was associated with the in- patient psychosocial and physical rehabilitation of clients suffering from schizophrenia, mood disorders, substance abuse. Also, got the opportunity to guide occupational therapy students in their dissertation work and conduct lectures on prosthetic and orthotic devices.Treated clients suffering from postural low backache and cerebral palsy in Lagos by conducting home visits.
Worked in the Al Mamzar Government Community Centre for the Elderly, Dubai, as an Occupational Therapist, on a voluntary basis, concerned with the rehabilitation of geriatric clients, in October . Therapy was administered to clients with senile dementia, ulnar and radial nerve palsies, parkinsons disease, in the areas of self help skills, gross and fine motor skills, perceptual and psychosocial disabilities, along with the construction and application of splints and adaptive aids for the same.
Worked in a special school in Karama, Dubai as an Occupational Therapist concerned with the management and development of children with Downs Syndrome, Learning Disability, Autism and Mental Retardation, from April to June . Therapy was provided in the areas of affectations in fine and gross motor skills, self help skills, perceptual and cognitive disabilities, sensory integrative dysfunctions and psychosocial dysfunctions.
Worked in a special school in Bombay, India as an Occupational Therapist, from December to December , concerned with the management of children with Autism, Downs Syndrome, Learning Disability and Mental Retardation. Therapy was administered to children with sensory integrative dysfunctions, perceptual and cognitive disabilities, affectations in fine motor skills and psychosocial dysfunctions.
Worked in a polyclinic in Bombay, India as a part time Occupational Therapist, for one year from December to December . Treated clients suffering from orthopaedic and neurological dysfunctions along with practical experience in the design, construction and application of orthosis in the form of splints, collars and braces for the same.
Treated clients suffering from low back ache, spastic cerebral palsy, spinal carcinoma, downs syndrome by conducting regular home visits. Conducted wheelchair prescriptions and adaptations, assessment for environmental adaptations and assistive devices based on the needs of the clients.
Provided therapy to patients of both the geriatric and pediatric population, patients with various cardiac, neurologic, psychiatric, orthopaedic and respiratory disorders, during the training period. Also got the opportunity to rehabilitate patients suffering from haemophilia and to provide palliative care to clients in the last stage of cancer and HIV infection.
