Qualifications I am dedicated, extremely hard-working and focused. I was recently named Classified Advertising Manager of the year 2007 by Suburban Newspapers of America. I have worked in Classified advertising for 25 years and have made numerous improvements in the efficiency of the departments I managed. Education Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources, West Virginia University. Graduated Magna Cum Laude. Relevant Experience 1995-2007 Classified Advertising Director, Capital Gazette Newspapers, Annapolis, Md. Company comprised of 5 main newspapers, covering all of Anne Arundel county (combined circulation of 125,000). Supervised up to 20 employees in inside advertising sales, outside advertising sales and legal advertising. Responsible for $14,000,000 in yearly revenue. Supervised web reduction for classified department, oversaw implementation of new front-end system (Mactive system), worked with IT department to improve classified presence on HometownAnnapolis.com website, and was instrumental in successful implementation of remote ad-entry system for private party advertisers. I encouraged my newspaper to partner with Shaker Advertising in the implementation of a multi-newspaper regional employment on-line site (JobFetch.com), trained and mentored employees, and continually improved performance of department in customer-service, revenue and new advertising products. Represented the newspaper throughout the county, Northeast and United States at various newspaper conferences and conventions. 1983-1995 Outside Sales Representative, Capital Gazette Newspapers, Annapolis, MD. Handled extensive account list, and was the first sales representative to sell over $1,000,000 in advertising a year. Worked with commercial accounts; real estate, automotive and employment primarily. 1978-1982 Retail manager, Foxmoor Casuals. Managed fashion retail store. Supervised opening of the new store when Annapolis Mall opened in 1980. Store had very low shortages and did very well. Created the front window designs with new merchandise, trained new management staff. Supervised up to 15 employees at a time.
