Academic Project Title “Production,process optimization and partial purification of extra cellular Pectinase from Aspergillus niger isolated from soil”. Duration One and half months Technology Fermentation Research Facility Department of Botany ,University of Madras, Chennai, Tamilnadu A strain of Aspergillus niger isolated from soil and pectinase production studied using shake flask fermentation. Various parameters were optimized which enhanced production of pectinase. Technical Skills MICROBIOLOGY Sterilization Techniques, Preparation of culture media, Culturing of micro organisms, Identification of micro organisms. BIOCHEMISTRY Protein Estimation, estimation of nucleic acid, Enzyme assay. MOLECULAR BIOLOGY Genomic DNA isolation, Biochemical estimations of :DNA,RNA,Protein; GENETIC ENGINEERING Preparation of DNA –genomic and plasmid,AGE,SDS-PAGE,Gel Electrophoresis of proteins, Restriction enzyme digestion IMMUNOLOGY ELISA,RIA,Affinitychromatography,Immunoprecipitation BIOPROCESS Enzyme isolation assay, immobilization ,Production of secondary metabolites and assay,Extracellular enzyme production and purification, production of intracellular products, Cell disruption techniques, Chromatographic techniques Industry Training Program Observer ship training on Cytogenetics. Duration 1 Week Technology Cytogenetics Research Facility Dept. of Cytogenetics, Cancer Research Institute (WIA), Chennai The course was on the area of tissue culture, chromosomal preparations, G-banding, Microphotography, Karyotyping and Karyotype analysis from human blood and bone marrow aspirate samples. Program Observer ship training on Electron Microscopy. Duration 1 Week Technology Electron Microscopy. Research Facility Dept. of Electron Microscopy, Cancer Research Institute (WIA), Chennai. Program In plant training on “Vegetables waste based power plant through high rate Biomethanation.” Duration 1 week. Technology Waste management Research Facility Koyambedu Biomethanation Plant, (KWMC, Govt. of Tamil Nadu) Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India The training was focused on various aspects of a waste treatment plant to produce electricity through high rate Biomethanation Personal Skills Teamwork I have successfully undertaken various team projects within both academic environments. Communication My degree course greatly enhanced my written and verbal communication skills due to the many presentations, assignments, posters, essays and projects required. Willingness to learn I am keen to develop my understanding and acquire new skills through employment. Problem solving I have the ability to problem solve, tested with continuous problem solving exercises given as assessments, which may require mathematical analysis and evaluation. Computer skills Knowledge and experience of Windows XP, MS Word, MS Excel ,MS PowerPoint, Data entry and the Internet.
