CLEMENS DISTRICT Work as a Family Independence Specialist, responsibilities includes determining eligibility for assistance programs such as food stamps, Medicaid, Cash assistance, as well as Day care payment supplements. Additionally, I work with families to help identify goals and barriers that are deterrents in the family’s welfare and ability to achieve financial independence. My position requires that I work with many different agencies including Michigan Works, Community Action Center, as well as children’s services, office of child support, as well as legal aid, and several area housing commissions. The work includes case management, as well as interacting with clients and other professional's on a daily basis. August 1995-August 1999 MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS, MACOMB CORRECTIONAL FACILITY Worked as a Resident Unit Officer in an all male multi-security level correctional institution. My responsibilities included enforcing all housing and custody rules and regulations as out lined in policy. This included ensuring that sanitation standards were met, that caustics were accounted for, ordering of all supplies for the housing unit. Further, I was responsible to monitor prisoner movement in and out of the housing unit, to make regular rounds throughout the unit, to do both informal and formal count, to ensure the whereabouts of the prisoners within our custody.
