Career Knowledge: I worked as an editorial assistant and translator (English to Spanish and vice versa) for Reflejos, a bilingual newspaper in suburban Chicago owned by Paddock Publications, with a circulation of 100,000 copies weekly. Thanks to the experience I gained, I was able to obtain a position as freelance translator for El Paso y Más, a publication of El Paso Times. As a student, I wrote for the El Paso Community College’s student newspaper El Conquistador for two years, being in charge of news briefs and general stories. I also gained experience during my practicum at KINT Channel 26 (Univisión), writing news stories, assisting with the rundown (using the AP program) and the prompter and doing most of the translations from English to Spanish. I also worked as a translator for the online magazine The Merge, created entirely by New Mexico State University students. I have also taken an introductory course on B&W photography, which gave me the skills to develop my own film and make my own prints using traditional methods.
