PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE R. C. Costello & Assoc., Inc. (March 1999 to December 2001) Simulating batch and continuous chemical processes on ChemCad. Sketch PFD’s using AutoCad. Designed and balanced piping networks and performed preliminary calculations on a ventilation system for a gas-solid system using Excel. Performed heat transfer calculations for coiled and jacketed vessels. Sizing condensers and coolers, and completing thin film evaporation worksheets using Mathcad. Performed pump and thin film evaporation calculations, Compiled instrument lists. Performed studies on modifying a landfill gas recovering system. Writing reports using Word and PowerPoint. J. D. Equipment Store (December 1998) Designed shelves and cabinets using AutoCad Science Applications International Corporation (July 1995 to August 1996) Programmed extensively in Access SQL. Designed Access 2.0 database applications and provided technical support assisting Tinker and Kelly Air Force Bases in San Antonio, TX to eliminate the use of ozone depleting and EPA-17 chemicals from technical manuals. Specific tasks include researching, reviewing, identifying, and substituting the targeted toxic chemicals in the technical manuals with acceptable alternatives. Also, maintain and update group members with newly found computer application information for Access, Word, Excel, and other software applications. ARCO Chemical Company (May 1992 to December 1993) Worked as a salaried intern in the departments of process instrumentation and process control providing technical support. Helped conduct a maintenance firewater system study using hydraulic calculations and engineering techniques, ensured that OSHA specifications were met, participated in “turn-around” procedures, and performed SPC on oxygen and product analyzers. Helped update PFD’s and P&ID’s using AutoCad. Specific tasks in process automation involved equipment ordering, programming in FORTRAN and C, performing engineering calculations on Excel, Quatro-Pro, and Lotus1-2-3, and writing reports on Word and WordPerfect. Maintained data in Paradox database. Texas A&M University Microbiology Department (August 1991 to December 1991) Worked as a student technician and performed Beta-galactosidase assays, DNA recombinants and genetic engineering of DNA plasmids. Data gathered were compiled and graphed on various software programs for Macintosh. Also, I initiated the insertion of a Spectinomycin cassette into a species of cyanobacteria. PET Incorporated (October 1990 to 1991) Worked as a microbiologist in an analytical laboratory for a food company. Performed quality controls on on-shelf samples and finished products. Diagnosed and suggested corrective maintenance procedures as needed. Provided technical support on customer complaint cases.
