ANALYSIS AND DESIGN – Learnt various approaches to application development including the traditional systems development life cycle, the uniform process, and agile development methods. Used UML diagramming techniques to build application development systems, collect system requirements using stories, develop Java programs using the Eclipse IDE and lastly develop programs in a test driven development environment using JUnit testing. DATABASE MANAGEMENT – Understanding of relational DBMS, different database models and database query language (SQL), led to designing and implementation of a database application for a rental store. PROJECT MANAGEMENT – Enabled one to understand the types of decisions a project manager must make to complete a project on time and on budget, using software such as Microsoft Project and Crystal Ball. This in turn led us to do a group project where we conducted an audit of the Pricing Management Engine project of an e-commerce business. The objective of the audit was to evaluate the current and future project status, issues requiring close monitoring by senior management, and the major risks associated with the project. The audit also included the projected impact on project’s time, cost and performance. LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT – Coursework mainly focused on the ability to identify logistical problems and create better solutions using logistics methodologies.
