Services provided by the Automotive Group in Michigan include, manufacturing and engineering process improvement, technical training development and delivery, and business process outsourcing. Manager, Manufacturing Equipment Training for General Motors – Having sold a project that represented great potential for future growth for General Physics, I assumed the position of Project Manager and lead technical training partner for General Assembly on this project. In this project, our team is responsible for determining what equipment-related technical training is needed for new launches throughout North America. Our team’s goal is to ensure skilled trades personnel are fully trained and capable of performing all tasks associated with the operations, maintenance and troubleshooting of all new equipment. Our work is measured using level 3 performance evaluations. My position requires me to work with engineering and purchasing at General Motors as well as dozens of equipment builders. I represent General Motors and work with all General Assembly equipment builders to ensure compliance to the requirements of GM’s training specification. As General Assembly’s Technical Training Partner, I work with the Plant Launch teams to ensure the equipment training meets their needs and continuous improvement is fed back into the process. Director, Automotive Business Development — My focus has been on business re-development efforts exclusively at GM, specifically the Conveyors, Controls, Robots and Welding (CCRW) Engineering, General Assembly Engineering, and Body Engineering groups. My business development efforts allowed me to interface with GM directors, managers and engineers to develop performance and process solutions to their current business problems. Presentations, proposal writing, negotiations and account management are key elements in my daily routine. Consulting sales with GM Engineering in 2005 were in excess of 2 M. RWD TECHNOLOGIES 1988 - 2004 RWD Technologies is a Performance Improvement company headquartered in Columbia, MD with a large office in Troy, MI. The company has 1200 employees world-wide supporting various performance improvement initiatives for clients. The Performance Solutions Group focused on the implementation and support of Workforce Development Systems. This included outsourcing training departments, business process mapping, customized training and eLearning development and training administration. Director, Performance Solutions — The Performance Solutions team consisted of 40 employees specializing in workforce development systems which includes; business process analysis, performance improvement consulting and web-based training. As the Department Director, I supported the strategic and tactical direction of the business as well as the finance performance of the department. Sales and account management were key to my job function. It was my responsibility to take sales from initial contact through the proposal writing, contract negotiation and purchase order process. While leading this department, my team and I were able to take a department that had been unprofitable for 13 years and transform it to a department with a 30% gross profit within the first year. This was accomplished through standardizing work practices and processes, improving project and account management, and the development of a robust sales initiative. Executive Director to President — My primary responsibilities included, project management, project quality assurance, sales, strategic planning, policy deployment, financial analysis and forecasting for a 350 person group. The president was new to the company and it was my responsibility to indoctrinate him into our processes as well as help him implement lean enterprise tactics such as current and future state mapping and strategic planning. Prior to my position as Executive Director, I held numerous positions within the company: Department Director - Lean Manufacturing Services — Responsible for the sales, recruiting, account and project management and financial performance of a lean manufacturing department for five-years. As a Director, I was responsible for ensuring my department met the sales requirements, year over year growth goals, as well as meeting and exceeding all of the companies utilization, revenue and gross profit goals. I have experience in marketing, proposal writing, and negotiating both client and employee contracts. The follow paragraphs detail key initiatives during my directorship within the lean manufacturing division: Project Manager, DaimlerChrysler Lean Operating System — Managed a large team of lean manufacturing specialists supporting DCX’s lean manufacturing implementation throughout the world. Project Manager, Ford Lean Production System — Managed a team of executives and analysts in the development and implementation of the Ford Production system world-wide. This was a $26M dollar project over 2.5 years with a team of 45 lean manufacturing consultants implementing and coaching lean plant transformations. Project Manager, Ford Powertrain Lean Production System — Managed a team in the design and development of powertrain’s customized lean production system. Project Director, Lean Supplier Support — Project director for several teams working on lean transformation projects. The larger suppliers include: Dana Axle, Emerson, New Venture Gear, Kodak, and New Process Steel. Director – Workforce Development — Responsible for a team of instructional designers, technical experts and industrial trainers supporting projects for GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler. As the director I was responsible for the continuous learning and growth of my team. It was my responsibility to mentoring the team on the business aspects of the training consulting realm. The group operated as profit center in which my managers and I were responsible for project, account and team management as well as operating a profitable department. Instructional Designer – Held numerous positions as project manager and team member of instructional design, and equipment supplier support projects. I supported and managed course design and development, and equipment operations and maintenance documentation projects. GENERAL PHYSICS 1986-1988 Technical Documentation and Instructional Design Specialist — Served as project manager and developer of technical procedural manuals for automotive manufacturing operations. Working on the plant floor and with the subject matter experts gathering information and developing operations, maintenance and troubleshooting manuals for production, electricians and machine repair.
