In doing so, I trained associates new to the field, performed administrative tasks pertinent to department and tried all major criminal cases. I have also dealt with probate and estate planning, elder law and civil defense cases. Recent criminal jury trial results: - Aggravated assault case involving shooting on playground. After five-day trial, defendant found not guilty. - Aggravated indecent assault case involving three juvenile complainants. Jury was hung, with eleven jurors voting for acquittal. Prosecution was ultimately withdrawn. - Rape case involving juvenile complainant and DNA evidence. Jury returned verdict asked for by defense of lesser offense of statutory sexual assault. Senior Associate 1989 At this point, I functioned primarily as a defense litigator in both civil (Lemon Law, contract, landlord-tenant, premises liability) and criminal cases. I also did some estate planning and probating of estates. Junior Associate 1985 Upon joining the firm, I primarily dealt with administrative law cases such as Social Security disability, workmen’s compensation and unemployment compensation. Subsequently, I became the primary estate planner for the firm. Sacks, Basch and Lavner 1982 to 1984 As I spoke Spanish, I worked out of the firm’s office located in the Hispanic community. I conducted interviews, did legal research and assisted other attorneys with their caseloads.
