Sr. Business Automation Developer
Job Description
Position Summary
This is an ONSITE position located in Washington, D.C.
NCC is seeking a Senior Business Automation Developer to support NAVSEA at the Washington Navy Yard. This role will focus on business process automation, policy workflow development, and automation solutions that help improve the speed, accuracy, tracking, and execution of NAVSEA policy-related processes.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience analyzing business processes, developing workflow solutions, supporting automation initiatives, and working directly with stakeholders to translate operational needs into efficient automated workflows. This individual must be articulate, detail-oriented, and experienced in briefing senior military leadership.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Support NAVSEA business process automation initiatives.
- Design, develop, and improve workflow solutions that help streamline the creation, review, approval, tracking, and management of NAVSEA policies.
- Work with government stakeholders to understand current business processes, identify bottlenecks, and recommend automation improvements.
- Translate business requirements into automated workflows, process maps, documentation, and system requirements.
- Support automation and analytics efforts by developing LLM and agentic solutions that improve review, collaboration, reporting, and operational efficiency.
- Assist with the development, refinement, and implementation of automated policy workflow tools and related business processes.
- Partner with technical teams, functional users, and leadership to ensure automation solutions align with mission needs.
- Conduct workflow testing, user acceptance support, troubleshooting, and process validation.
- Create and maintain documentation including process flows, user guides, workflow requirements, standard operating procedures, and training materials.
- Support change management activities related to new or improved workflow processes.
- Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and provide briefings, updates, and recommendations as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency, reduce manual tasks, and enhance policy development timelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of NAVSEA automation and analytics objectives.
Minimum Requirements
- Active Secret clearance required.
- Bachelor's degree and 9+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with business process automation, workflow development, and process improvement.
- Experience gathering stakeholder requirements and translating them into workflow or automation solutions.
- Strong knowledge of business process mapping, workflow design, process documentation, and operational improvement.
- Experience supporting DoD, Navy, or other federal government customers.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with executive leadership, technical teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to understand complex policies and business processes and convert manual processes into efficient, repeatable workflows.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet mission-critical deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, professionalism, accountability, and customer service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting NAVSEA, Navy, or Department of Defense policy-related processes.
- Experience developing workflows for policy review, approval routing, document management, task tracking, or process automation.
- Experience with automation or workflow platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint workflows, ServiceNow, Jira, or similar business automation tools.
- Experience supporting automation and analytics teams.
- Knowledge of records management, policy governance, or formal approval workflows.
- Experience creating dashboards, workflow reports, metrics, or process performance tracking.
- Experience supporting process improvement, CMMI, Agile, or continuous improvement environments.
