Freelance Sports/ Live Action Travel Photographer


Get paid to travel and capture images at major dance competitions.
We are seeking skilled photographers for our competition season, held from February through June. If you have experience photographing sports, concerts, dance, or other high-energy live events, we will provide training on our specific workflow and the unique aspects of dance photography.
You handle the photography. Editing is managed by our team.

Events take place across the country
Your Responsibilities
  • Photograph dynamic dance performances with varying stage lighting
  • Produce clear, well-timed action shots
  • Collaborate with the media team during live events
  • Back up, transfer, and upload images using our workflow
Training Provided
Dance photography background is not required.
All new photographers participate in online training sessions in January and attend at least two live training events alongside experienced Senior Photographers before working independently.
If you already know action photography, we will teach you the dance-specific skills.
Preferred Experience
Seeking photographers skilled with fast-paced movement in areas such as:
  • Sports
  • Dance
  • Concerts
  • Theatre
  • Gymnastics
  • Figure skating
  • Cheerleading
  • Live events
Must be comfortable using manual mode with continuous autofocus (Servo/AF-C) under changing lighting.
Experience exclusively in portrait, studio, real estate, landscape, product, or architectural photography does not meet the requirements for this position.
Job Requirements
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Reside within about one hour of a major airport
  • Able to travel regularly on weekends during the season
  • Hold a valid U.S. driver's license
  • Have a passport or REAL ID-compliant driver's license
  • Comfortable with occasional drives of 5-6 hours
  • Capable of working long production days and lifting up to 25 lbs
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check
Equipment Guidelines
Photographers must bring their own professional gear:
  • Two mirrorless camera bodies from Canon, Nikon, or Sony
  • 24-105mm, 24-120mm, 24-70mm, or 35-150mm constant-aperture zoom lens
  • 70-200mm zoom lens
  • f/2.8 preferred; f/4 acceptable
  • Four or more 64GB memory cards and compatible card reader
  • At least three batteries and two chargers
  • Monopod
DSLR cameras and brands not listed above are not compatible with our proprietary system.
