Position Summary:
The Shop Foreman oversees all aspects of precast concrete manufacturing operations on the production floor. This position is directly responsible for ensuring efficiency and safety for the production employees as well as quality control of the finished precast concrete products. This role involves team leadership, production oversight, and maintaining client satisfaction while adhering to industry standards and company objectives. The shop foreman reports directly to senior management and is responsible for fostering a culture of excellence among fellow employees.
Key Job Duties:
- Production Management:
- Plan, organize and manage daily operations of the precast concrete manufacturing plant
- Schedule production to meet project deadlines and optimize resource utilization
- Supervise and train plant personnel, ensuring adherence to safety & quality protocols
- Oversee all production operations including forming, stripping, casting and curing precast concrete products
- Coordinate storage and shipping of precast concrete products to meet customer needs and inventory requirements
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure all precast concrete products meet project specifications, design standards and relevant codes
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures, including material testing and inspection
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
- Coordination and Communication:
- Collaborate with design and engineering to review precast shop drawings and resolve technical issues and constructability concerns
- Coordinate logistics for timely delivery of precast concrete products to meet customer needs
- Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, suppliers and employees
- Safety and Maintenance:
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance with company policies
- Coordinate with the safety director to identify and eliminate safety concerns and issues
- Ensure that equipment, molds and forms are properly maintained and repaired
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, optimize cost and expand the product line
- Stay up to date with industry trends, materials and technology in the precast concrete industry
Position Requirements: Position Requirements
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of concrete construction experience, specifically with concrete forming and finishing
- 5+ years of experience in managing and leading a crew of workers in a manufacturing or construction setting
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Proficient in production planning, scheduling and resource management
- Strong knowledge of production processes, quality assurance, and safety protocols
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Work Environment:
- Ability to work in a manufacturing plant facility
- May require standing, walking and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Occasional travel may be required for client interaction, industry events and training opportunities
