Post Doctoral Associate - Harris Laboratory
Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26003181)
The Environmental Fatigue and Fracture Laboratory (EFFL) 's research is focused on understanding the degradation in fatigue, fracture, and mechanical behavior of structural metals exposed to aggressive environments. Current activities span all major structural alloy classes and a broad range of environments relevant to the nuclear, energy, marine, and aerospace sectors.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute materials characterization and mechanical testing in support of projects related to the fatigue and fracture behavior of additively manufactured copper-based alloys.
- Manage project progression and successful completion of identified milestones.
- Assist with reporting of project results to sponsors via presentations and written reports.
- Provide mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students working in the laboratory.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with X-ray diffraction, electron backscatter diffraction/scanning electron microscopy, and mechanical testing
- Experience with corrosion testing and transmission electron microscopy is desired but not required.
