Job Description
The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine has a tenure-track faculty position available at the Assistant Professor level. The research focus for this recruitment is medically relevant microbiology, including viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi. The incumbent will be expected to develop an independently funded and recognized diverse research program involving parasitology, molecular genetics and host pathogen intersections. Collaboration with faculty inside and scientist outside the university is encouraged. The incumbent will also be expected to teach primarily in the Graduate Program in Microbiology and Immunology (PMI) and may teach for other programs. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is consistently among the top ten in NIH-funded medical schools in the U.S. and is located in one of America’s most livable cities. Requirements for Assistant Professor include a MD and/or a PhD in the field of Microbiology, Immunology or a related field, 3 or more years of post-graduate research experience and a strong publication record.
