We invite you to become a pivotal part of our team as the Associate Director of Alumni and Partner Engagement. In this role, you will serve as an integral part within the Alumni Relations team reporting to the Executive Director, Constituent Relations.

The Associate Director of Alumni and Partner Engagement plays a key role in executing signature alumni programs, strengthening volunteer participation, and supporting long-term engagement strategies through institutional partnerships. This position combines program execution with relationship management, effective communication, and data-informed decision-making. A central focus of the role is leading the planning and delivery of Homecoming, while also developing processes and insights that expand alumni participation and contribute to the strategic priorities of the division of External Relations.

Job Summary

Performs all administrative and operational functions of a program. Coordinates all program events and personnel and provides services directly to customers. Develops and implements program policies and procedures. Performs budgetary functions and oversees media communications, website updates, and newsletters.


Essential Functions
  • The ability to utilize excel.
  • To work some hours outside of the University's 8:30am-5:00pm schedule.
  • To serve as a project manager utilizing a project management platform provided by the University.
  • Homecoming Leadership

    • Serve as the central project manager for Homecoming, a sixmonth planning process culminating in a multiday initiative with 70+ campuswide events.
    • Coordinate across more than 20 campus partners and act as the primary point of contact for the Pitt Alumni Association.
    • Ensure seamless execution through detailed timelines, resource allocation, and crossdepartmental communication.
  • Engagement Portfolio Management
    • Formalize and scale systems for managing Engagement Portfolios to identify alumni “ripe for engagement.”
    • Collect and refine biographic and interest data to drive participation and strengthen alumni relationships.
    • Establish measurable engagement scoring and portfolio refinement processes to support the campaign’s goal of one million moments of impact.
    • Facilitate intentional handoffs to fundraising partners for deeper cultivation.
  • Volunteer Intake & Relationship Building
    • Manage the volunteer intake process, serving as the first point of contact for alumni interested in involvement.
    • Assess interests, connect alumni to appropriate opportunities, and flag potential volunteers in AQ for ongoing cultivation.
    • Maintain communication with PAE colleagues, including DXOs and SCRlevel fundraisers, to build a warm pipeline of alumni advocates, volunteers, and donors.

Physical Effort

Light - Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Hiring Range: $54,000-59,000 annually
