Description

Responsibilities Include:

• Setup operate, and maintain equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, shapers, drill presses and powered hand tools
• Plan work, diagnose trouble, dismantle , repair, and assemble parts and equipment
• Layout and fabricate tools, machine parts and dies to close tolerances, using precision layout, measuring, testing instruments and gauges; heat treat, temper and otherwise finish dies, tools and machine parts; make precise adjustments to equipment
• Work from blueprints, diagrams, sketches, handbooks, and general instruction; braze, weld, cut, solder, and metallize to effect repairs and fabricate parts; pour and scrape bearings
• Etch rolls
• Work in shop or field as required
• Operate cranes, hoists, trucks and other material handling equipment in conjunction with assigned work; notify appropriate personnel of irregularities in equipment or materials
• Maintain a clean and orderly conditions in the shop and work area
• Observe all safety rules

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED.
• At least three years of machinist maintenance experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment and/or graduated from a mechanical program from a technical college required
• Must meet or exceed the pre-placement assessment requirements
• Ability to perform physical and labor intensive tasks
• Flexibility in working hours including ability to work day, evening and night rotating shifts, daily overtime, weekends and holidays
• Ability to adjust to the changing needs of a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Broad and detailed knowledge of tools and materials.
• Training and experience required for independent special planning and analysis involved in elaborate machine shop work
• Ability to work in normally good physical conditions which may be somewhat noisy or dirty
• Ability to use formulae, handbooks, advance mathematics, and prints to solve machinist problem
• Ability to manually form parts to very close tolerances
• Ability to work with a high degree of care and judgment to prevent loss
• Ability to provide considerable thought and a high degree of concentration to plan work and select methods, materials and tools to fabricate
