POSITION: Welder

LOCATION: Jupiter/Stuart, FL

STATUS: Hourly Non-Exempt

Job Summary

Execution of weld prep, welding and visual weld inspection of gasturbine airfoil components as per technical specification and customerrequirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions of thejob include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Set-up and installation of welding equipment

  • Executionof welding on gas turbine components as per the required technicalspecification

  • Qualitycheck of the performed work before operation step confirmation

  • Preparation/confirmation of the required quality documentation

  • Reportingof used production time per production step

  • Setting up welding parameters, selects consumablematerials, and prepares work piece for new welding process trials together withengineering staff

  • Designs and fabricates welding fixtures, chill blocks, and purge boxes as required

  • Reportingof technical deviations with the Non Conformance Reporting System (NCR)

  • Carryingout scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment and tools

  • Keepingthe working environment and machines in a clean and proper condition

  • FollowingEnvironmental Health and Safety regulations

  • Continuallyimproving operations and the working environment

  • Othertasks assigned by production manager or supervisor

    Minimum Requirements


    Education

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Certifiedin welding (TIG & MIG)

    Skills/Experience

  • 3+ yearsexperience with TIG welding

  • 3+ yearsexperience in a production or maintenance environment

  • 1+ yearsexperience with welding of Ni-base or Ni-Cr alloys

  • Experienced incarrying out visual inspections of welds

  • Demonstratedknowledge of manufacturing processes

Working Conditions(Industrial/Environmental)

Regularlyworks around moving mechanical parts. Noise level may be loud at times.

Physical/MentalRequirements

  • Stooping/Crouching. Bending body downward andforward by bending spine at the waist.

  • Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest onknee or knees.

  • Crawling. Moving about on hands and knees or handsand feet.

  • Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in anydirection.

  • Standing. Particularly for sustained periods oftime

  • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks,particularly for long distances or moving from one work area to another.

  • Pushing & Pulling

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. Raising objects from a lowerto a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.

  • Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with thefingers and palm.

  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions)of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuityto perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures;transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspectioninvolving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (includinginspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts atdistances close to the eyes.

  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficientnoise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noiselevel.

  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes avariety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts,moving vehicles, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

  • May require travel (air & ground) with shortnotice.

  • Ability to cooperate and work with people.
