Maintenance Technician - Food Solutions
Job Description
Founded in 1967 and headquartered in Chaska, Minnesota, QualiTech, LLC is a privately held global manufacturer serving the plant nutrition, animal nutrition, and food ingredient industries. For more than 50 years, we have combined innovation, quality, and customer focus to create products and solutions that make a difference. While our business has a global reach, we maintain the collaborative culture and values of a family-owned company.
We value teamwork, accountability, attention to detail, work-life balance, and a willingness to step in and get things done. As QualiTech continues to grow, we are looking for talented, motivated people who bring curiosity, initiative, and a “can-do” attitude to help us build what’s next.
If you’re the person who enjoys figuring out why equipment isn’t working and how to make it work better, this could be a great opportunity for you.
QualiTech is looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to support our manufacturing operations in Chaska, Minnesota. This is a hands-on role where you’ll troubleshoot complex equipment, perform preventive maintenance, support equipment installations and upgrades, and help keep our production facility operating safely and efficiently.
You won’t be doing the same thing every day. You’ll work across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, HVAC, boiler, welding, and production systems, while partnering with Production, Engineering, outside vendors, and other teams to solve problems and improve equipment reliability.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install production equipment and systems.
- Diagnose and repair gears, bearings, drives, gearboxes, motors, sensors, PLCs, actuators, power supplies, transformers, and heating/cooling controls.
- Troubleshoot low- and high-voltage AC/DC electrical systems.
- Maintain and repair pneumatic systems, including compressors, actuators, sensors, and logic circuits.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, and repairs on production equipment and HVAC systems.
- Maintain, inspect, test, and operate steam boilers and related equipment.
- Fabricate equipment and replacement parts using welding and basic machining.
- Support the design, specification, procurement, installation, and upgrade of production equipment.
- Play an active role in large-scale production and facility upgrades and equipment changeovers.
- Work with outside vendors and contractors when specialized support is required.
- Coach production operators on basic equipment maintenance and proper equipment care.
- Maintain accurate work orders and maintenance documentation.
- Communicate equipment issues, project progress, and repair status to department leadership.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment while following established quality and safety requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED with 5+ years of industrial maintenance or equivalent experience.
- Two-year technical degree preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with AC/DC high- and low-voltage systems.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, pipe threading, and TIG welding.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, specifications, procedures, and technical instructions.
- Valid Minnesota Special Engineer Boiler License, or ability to obtain one.
- Forklift experience/certification, including stand-up and sit-down forklifts.
- Experience with maintenance or asset management systems such as Fiix or MP2.
- Manufacturing experience required; experience working in an FDA-regulated environment is valuable.
- Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking, organization, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision while collaborating with a broader team.
Who Will Thrive in This Role
You’ll be successful here if you enjoy getting to the root cause of problems instead of simply applying a temporary fix. You’re comfortable working independently, but you also communicate well with operators and other departments. Most importantly, you take safety, quality, and equipment reliability seriously and are always looking for ways to improve how things work.
