Job Description
The Stationary Engineer ensures the efficient operation and maintenance of all equipment in the Boiler Room and mechanical rooms according to established standards. The Engineer performs skilled work associated with the maintenance and repair of equipment and tools in the Boiler Room and mechanical rooms. The Stationary Engineer effectively monitors fire alarms and reports emergency codes to communications.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. 1 year trade school or equivalent preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: New Jersey State Stationary Blue Seal Engineer's License minimum required in Mainland Campus. Advanced license preferred. Valid NJ Driver's License required.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 years' Experience working in the boiler room. Must possess a general knowledge in electrical/mechanical skills. Must have the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications, as well as manufacturers' instruction manuals.
Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
Requires ability to climb, ability to lift upward of 75 to 100 pounds, and to work in a strained position some of the time.

This position reports to the Chief Engineer/Facilities Plant Manager.
