ATLANTICARE ___________________________________________________ROLE DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY The Technologist performs diagnostic testing and assists with interventional procedures, according to established departmental procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care. Diagnostic testing includes X-ray, and interventional procedures. This position supports diagnostic and interventional procedures in Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs. This position may support coronary and peripheral interventions, closure device implants, electrophysiology studies, ablations and device implants. The Technologist performs diagnostic testing as directed by the physician at a competent technical level not requiring constant supervision. This position operates diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results. The Technologist manages the patient during the diagnostic procedure to meet quality patient care standards. This position ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member. This position supports the Interventionists by scrubbing in during the procedure, as well as computerized documentation of the events of the procedure. On Call is a requirement of this position. This position actively participates in and supports preceptoring of new employees or clinical education activities where applicable. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited radiological technologist school required. 1-2 yrs interventional cardiology experience required. Peripheral experience preferred. LICENSE: Licensed by the State of , Department of Environmental Protection. CERTIFICATION: BLSHCP required. Registry or Registry Eligible American Registry of Radiology Technologist. If registry eligible at time of hire registration is required within one year. ACLS is required within 12 months from date of hire or transfer. EXPERIENCE: Candidates must possess ability to multitask, with attention to fine detail in a fast paced environment. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 90 days from date of hire. State License expires end of each year and must be renewed annually to work. ARRT expires on incumbents date of birth, and must be renewed to work.
