Walmart to Double Budget to Work With Women

Wal-Mart Stores Inc is putting the money where its mouth is and leading the way in women inclusion. The company just announced that it plans to double its budget on working with women's businesses on an annual basis. Based on last years budget of $2.5 billion, that's $5 billion per year spent to promote diversity and women inclusion.

The company made headlines when a massive discrimination class action suit was tossed out in court in June. Despite the suit, this initiative, which includes training low income women and urges suppliers to work with women owned businesses, clearly demonstrates that Wal-Mart takes women inclusion seriously and is willing to put massive amounts of funding behind its effort.

Women inclusion has become an important issue for many companies as they work to expand diversity within their workforces. It's good to see a major company like Wal-Mart lead the way and set an example that other companies may follow.
