The Human Resources Coordinator is a journey level stand-alone position responsible for supporting the Office of the Human Resources Group Manager and the Human Resources Services Section. In this support role, this position is privy to highly confidential information relating to the decisions of District management affecting District and organizational issues, employer-employee relations, and handles information that is sensitive and confidential in nature. Work requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail and organizational skills, and the desire to help others.
Assignments include analyzing and making recommendations for organizational challenges, personnel services, projects, and programs. Project management skills with the ability to organize tasks, establish workload priorities under pressure, and exercise sound judgment while ensuring timeliness and quality are important. The successful candidate will be able to highlight their experience in a public sector agency and their experience interacting with unions.
This classification performs work that requires maintaining confidentiality and is routinely privy to matters that either involves confidential information, sensitive personnel issues, or exposure to confidential and sensitive strategic corporate information.
Schedule: 9/80, Monday through Friday/Every other Friday off.
Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.
Travel: This position will require travel to various District facilities throughout the service area, sometimes requiring overnight stay in the project area.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years relevant experience; OR four years in an MWD Human Resources Assistant II or higher relevant classification.
Relevant Experience is defined as: experience in a position handling confidential information; implementing/providing instruction on HR policies and procedures; preparing complex documents, forms and correspondence; tracking work projects, information and pending issues; and working proficiently with Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s):
Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
