The Facility Design Team is responsible for the structural analysis and design of new and rehabilitation of existing water conveyance, distribution, and treatment facilities, including hydraulic structures, pumping plants, water treatment plants, hydro-electric power plants, reservoirs, underground shafts, and tunnels. Our Assistant Engineer II will be assisting experienced structural engineers in this work which typically includes structural design calculations; vertical, wind, and seismic analyses using current Code provisions; application of 2D and 3D structural engineering computer software; preparation of construction plans, sections, and details; and development of construction specifications. Other responsibilities include assisting in performing project coordination, technical writing, oral presentation, site investigation, structural observations, construction submittal reviews, engineering research, and other assignments as required. Some drafting and fieldwork will be required.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Assistant Engineer I level.
Related degree is defined as: civil, architectural, or structural engineering
Relevant Experience is defined as: Preparing engineering design calculations, plans and specifications, assists with preparing design criteria, estimates and reports for water treatment, conveyance and distribution systems
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
