SUMMARY

This position works in multiple areas of the Development Services team, assisting with data entry for donor information. The required skill levels should demonstrate the ability to manage requests for names, address, email, gifts, obituaries, and confidential donor information. The position will be trained in multiple processes of data entry. This is a 12-month temporary position that has the possibility of being renewed. Position hours are typically from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  1. Enter and update names, addresses, email, and other biographical donor information such as relationships and attributes.
  2. Enter and update gift information from donors as directed by the Gift Processing Coordinator.
  3. Pull and prepare lists as requested.
  4. Review and summarize obituaries as they relate to donors.
  5. Backup the List Coordinator in loading and sending mass emails using Emma.
  6. Support analysts for the University Development Division and GVSU needs.
  7. Schedule large team meetings in Outlook.
  8. Utilize research resources to gather, analyze, and provide actionable information about current donors and prospective donors.
  9. Assist with the creation of profile summaries on a variety of constituencies including alumni, parents, community members, corporations, and foundations.
  10. Maintain an inventory and order technology equipment.
  11. Support of the conversion to a new Donor Advancement CRM.
  12. Review and edit documents for grammar, spelling and clarity.
  13. Identify problems with the current business processes and actively work to improve processes.
  14. Be a culture champion by instilling confidence and excitement in others regarding our mission and goals.
  15. Performs other duties as required/assigned by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • High School diploma or GED and some college experience
  • 2 years of related experience
  • Ability to use online search engines and similar resources (e.g., Google, LinkedIn, news sites, library tools, etc.) to conduct research
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work as a member of the team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitas
  • Experienced with word processing, spreadsheet, or database software, preferably MS Office Suite

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED

  • Bachelor of Science
  • Accounting or related type of experience
  • Experience in a higher education institution or other philanthropic environment

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Normal office environment
  • Some travel may be required.
  • This role is primarily in-person.

Job type: 12-month temporary, renewable.
