The Engineering Technician I (Corrosion) is an entry-level position within the Infrastructure Unit's Corrosion Engineering Team I. You will assist in performing infrastructure condition assessments and implementing relevant protection measures. The work will include pipeline condition assessments and cathodic protection; performing calculations; reading plans, specifications, and drawings; problem solving; and prioritizing critical work. This position will learn and assist with: installing, monitoring, operating field corrosion testing equipment; and performing infrastructure condition assessments and protective measures. This position is located at Metropolitan's Weymouth Water Treatment Plant in La Verne, CA and requires daily travel to field sites throughout Metropolitan's service area and occasional overnight travel.

Schedule: 4/10, Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency, and EITHER two years of accredited college or university in engineering related coursework OR two years of relevant experience.

Relevant Experience is defined as experience in one or more of the following areas: pipeline corrosion condition assessment, cathodic protection, corrosion science, general electrical testing and/or construction inspection.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:

License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License (or equivalent required at time of application) that allows you to drive in the course of your employment.
