The Instrumentation & Controls Team within the Design Unit is responsible for the design of process control and automation systems for water treatment, conveyance and distribution facilities throughout Metropolitan’s operating system. This position involves Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineering design duties. This includes performing or assisting with development of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), process schematics, equipment data sheets, instrumentation specifications, equipment and process control strategies, microprocessor and electronics-based automation control and design, and preparation of studies and plans for Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects. This position will also assist with process start-ups, inspection, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control and automation issues in support of day-to-day water system operations.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience, which must have been at the Assistant Engineer I level.
Relevant Experience is defined as: instrumentation and control, electrical, automation including Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), process schematics, equipment data sheets, instrumentation specifications, equipment and process control strategies, microprocessor and electronics-based automation control and design, and preparation of studies and plans for Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
