As a Surveying and Mapping Technician I, you will report to Metropolitan Water District’s Weymouth Water Treatment Plant in La Verne, CA and travel within Metropolitan’s service area to learn and assist with supporting surveyors in measuring pipelines, facilities and properties. You will utilize surveying techniques, tools, equipment and to make measurements, analyze data, interpret results, and assist with survey projects. You will work alongside senior survey staff to learn and assist in performing field surveys, such as, topographic surveys, construction surveys, pipeline and right-of-way staking, 3D surveying (laser scanning), etc.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or certificate of High School equivalency and two years of progressively increasing responsibility work experience in field and/or office survey work; or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university.

Relevant Experience is defined as: Experience working on surveying and mapping projects in the field and/or office, including utilization of survey and mapping software, survey equipment, and performing survey computations.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:

License(s):

Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
