The Assistant Chemist will conduct water quality analysis for unregulated and emerging chemical constituents of concern in water. The duties include preparing reagents and standards; performing water quality related analysis; collecting data and assisting with data interpretation; operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation; updating quality assurance and quality control records and procedures; assisting with developing and improving analytical methods; assisting with preparing and publishing technical reports; providing back up support to Assistant Chemists at any one of the treatment plant laboratory locations and/or at the main Water Quality Laboratory in La Verne as needed
Schedule: 9/80 Monday through Friday with every other Friday off

 EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
A Bachelor's degree in a related field, which is defined as: a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering.
 CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
 License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
