This position will be focusing primarily on our Energy Systems line of business, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.
 
Job Purpose
Senior Engineering Leader to manage the High-Speed Broadband Communications (Cable and Telecom) product development team from concept, start of production, and deployment. Will provide Technical Leadership and interaction with Engineering, Operations, PMO and Product Management Leaders to realize Enersys ESG (Energy Systems Global) Communications and Networking Product Lines in a cost effective and timely fashion.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•    Collaborate and provide leadership to the overall Broadband Engineering Organization’s administration and team engagement
•    Participate and provide leadership to the Global Engineering Organization’s collaboration and knowledge sharing initiatives
•    Manage the ESG High-Speed Broadband Communications Engineering team which includes Hardware, Firmware, Test and Lab Engineers
•    Define the architecture and technical direction for the High-Speed Broadband Communications Product Line (i.e., Networked Devices) including the Cable Outside Plant, Telecom, and IOT Networks
•    Drive the Technical approach from Concept to Production of both Hardware and Embedded Firmware 
•    Establish, maintain, and develop strategic/key partnering with Technology Suppliers from Silicon Suppliers to Software/Firmware Suppliers
•    Formulate yearly objectives, initiatives, and budgets
•    Participate and influence strategic product planning and development 
•    Serve as a technical contact for customer interfacing (i.e., internal, and external)
•    Mentor selected technical leaders and keep developing the team to align with new technologies
•    Collaborate with product management to form requirements document and matching development plans while developing phased roll-out strategy to improve engineering rigor, drive product roadmap with Product Management Leadership and V.P./CTO Engineering
•    Represent Enersys at industry events and selected vendor and customer visits
•    Assist V.P./CTO in strategic Engineering and tactical planning of product roadmap, technology roadmap and project plans
•    Maintain good working knowledge of competitive product offerings and market trends
•    Support and collaborate with Operations, Quality, and Technical Service activities with respect to products’ Sustaining over the entire product Lifecycle
    Proven leadership history of delivering IP Networking Communications products successfully. Seasoned in product design, development, sustaining and driving product realization for consumer, industrial or system verticals
•    Advanced RF/Optical communications and hardware knowledge. Knowledge of Cable HFC architecture and topology is preferred 
•    Hands-on management and design experience in Broadband MSO hardware-embedded firmware products
•    Experience in managing an Engineering organization of approximately 30 Engineers for at least 5 years
 
 
 
Qualifications


Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military training in field of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
Experience:    
10+ years in Design and Development Engineering 
8-10 years of Supervisory Experience
 
Other Qualifications


•    Strong communications and interpersonal management skills
•    Management skills to drive organizational changes with cross-functional and collaborative approach
•    Familiar with DOCSIS 3 and 3.1 standards
•    Familiar with Optical communications and networking standards including PON and DWDM, 
•    Familiar with IP (IPv4 & IPv6, etc.) Networking products, standards, and protocols
•    Familiar with SNMP standards
•    Familiar with IOT & Cloud Based Architectures and solutions
•    Familiar with broadband power systems and its evolution
•    Ability to adopt customers’ requirement changes while balancing organization’s ability to adopt/deliver
•    Ability to travel internationally to interface with Technology partners and assess contract manufacturing partners
•    Familiar with project planning and hardware & embedded firmware tracking tools
•    Familiar with engineering analysis and predictive tools-models
