The Water System Operations Group has two (2) openings for Property Maintenance Technician. One (1) position is located at Hinds Pumping Plant and one (1) position is located at Gene Pumping Plant.

As a Property Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of Metropolitan owned residential and recreation facilities, and buildings; responding to service requests and performing required troubleshooting and maintenance to resolve issues and ensure the property is optimally functional; and for the general upkeep of residential facilities and other various buildings.

You will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance and repair including carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and locksmithing; maintaining complete records of scheduled maintenance tasks and costs; responding to emergency situations and taking appropriate action; conducting annual property inspections to ensure that properties are safe; contacting tenants for scheduling repairs; and maintaining work areas in a clean and professional manner while complying with building and residential codes.

At this journey level you will be fully competent and apply your full range of specialized skills; use judgement in interpreting and adapting guidelines such as policies, regulations, precedents, and work directions for application; and make decisions regarding what needs to be done upon the analysis of the subject, phase or issues involved in each assignment.

Schedule: Hinds 4/10 (Sunday - Wednesday); Gene 4/10 (Wednesday – Saturday)

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency and six years of relevant experience.


Relevant Experience is defined as:a combination of 6 years of demonstrated experience performing carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting, HVAC, locksmithing, troubleshooting, and general repair and maintenance tasks to maintain residential/commercial properties and mechanical systems in good condition.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:

• Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.

• Forklift Certification
• Respirator Certification
• Manlift Certification
