The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s Field Survey Team is recruiting a Professional Land Surveyor with strong technical skills and experience with 3D laser scanning technology. The position reports to the Weymouth Water Treatment Plant located in La Verne, California.

We are seeking a motivated individual to plan, perform, review and oversee various surveying projects and activities, such as topographic surveys, boundary surveys, construction surveys, geodetic control surveys, pipeline and right-of-way calculations and staking, 3D Surveying (laser scanning), UAV/Drone photogrammetric survey/mapping, etc.

This individual will also serve as a technical lead to the team to ensure that surveying projects, program objectives, and other assignments are accurately completed and performed in compliance with industry standards and practices.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate and eight years of progressively increasing responsible work experience in field and/or office survey work, with one year minimum as a licensed surveyor; OR

An Associate’s degree and six years of progressively increasing responsible work experience in field and/or office survey work, with one year minimum as a licensed surveyor; OR

A Bachelor’s degree and four years of progressively increasing responsible work experience in field and/or office survey work, with one year minimum as a licensed surveyor.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Licenses:

  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
  • License in good standing as California Professional Land Surveyor (required at time of application).
