This is the advanced journey level performing Senior Training Specialist job duties. Positions at this level are responsible for design and development of curriculum and delivering training. This position with serve as Instructional Designer primarily responsible for designing and developing online and classroom curriculum for safety and technical training.


The Instructional Designer provides course design support to create effective and engaging curriculum for online, classroom, and blended learning environments. The role consults with staff from diverse disciplines to conduct needs assessments, identify course goals, and develop instructional strategies. Focus areas include incorporating innovative online and technology-enhanced course components to augment learning across different delivery methods and integrating curriculum with the Learning Management System.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Associate’s degree and four years of occupational experience in the subject matter area to be taught; or six years of occupational experience, journeyman’s certificate in the subject matter area to be taught, and completion of at least eighteen semester units of degree applicable college level course work, in addition to apprenticeship credits; or two years as a Training Specialist.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s):

  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.

Desirable Qualifications
Experience in Instructional Design/Curriculum Design methodologies.
Experience using online development software such as Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate.
Experience using Adobe Photoshop and video editing software.
Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
