As the Engineer for this position, you will be responsible for the management of multiple capital and O&M projects in the Pipeline Rehabilitation PM Team, providing project management expertise on engineering projects and ensuring that projects meet Metropolitan’s standards of quality, efficiency, and technical integrity. You will use your project manager skills to address day-to-day management of all project activities as well as assisting or leading the preparation of project proposals; performing and directing planning and scoping studies; obtaining project funding and authorization through Metropolitan’s Board process; monitoring and controlling project scope, progress, schedules, and budgets; coordinating with internal customers such as operations and water resource management; leading projects through design, bid solicitation, construction and closeout phases. You’ll identify and coordinate environmental assessments and documentation, prepare reports, and utilize standard Metropolitan software applications including Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project. You’ll also provide regular input and updates to Metropolitan’s Capital Investment Plan system and perform other initiatives related to project management or new project evaluations, as needed.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level; OR Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level.


Relevant Experience is defined as: experience managing capital projects, water distribution system design, permitting and construction, including new construction, upgrades, repairs, and rehabilitations; experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or other similar scheduling applications.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s):

  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
  • License in good standing as a California Professional Engineer.
