Preferred: 5+ years of law firm Marketing experience

What You Will Do:

This position is responsible for the firm’s branding and content strategies, employing a range of communication channels and tools that include marketing collateral, website, social media, and PR/Media placements.  The Director will work closely with the firm’s outside PR agency and our business development staff to develop media strategies to support the firm’s strategic plan and business development goals.

This position requires very strong writing and editing capabilities, media savvy, and the ability to work comfortably with senior partners of the firm and outside agencies. The ideal candidate should have at least 10 years of previous communications experience.  Professional services or law firm experience is a plus.  

 

Essential Job Requirements:

Work with firm leadership, the CMO, and PR agency to develop an internal and external communications strategy to support the firm’s brand and strategic business development priorities including:

  • Managing the firm’s brand to ensure brand consistency and build brand awareness. This includes supporting production of firm and practice group collateral materials and advertising to ensure they conform to the firm’s brand standards.
  • Developing and implementing the firm’s content strategy consistent with the firm’s brand and strategic plan.
  • Managing relationships with outside firm resources including the branding agency, the public relations firm, and freelance writers.
  • Working with our PR firm and firm leadership develop and implement earned media strategy.  Supervise media outreach for the firm, its practices groups, and its lawyers.
  • Develop internal communications tools to keep firm management and lawyers informed regarding the media strategy and results.
  • Oversee external communications, working with the business development staff and design firm, including client alerts, newsletters, event content, and related communications.
  • Supporting the firm’s internal communications including the Managing Partner’s speeches and presentations to the firm, internal electronic communications, and the marketing communication on the firm’s intranet.
  • Working with the firm’s business development team to ensure that content for the firm’s web site (including firm overview content and career information, lawyer bios, case studies, practice descriptions) is supporting the firm’s brand and has a consistent style and format.
  • In conjunction with our PR firm, implementing a comprehensive social media strategy for the firm.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • A Bachelors Degree preferably in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English or a related field.
  • A minimum of ten years of marketing communications experience. Experience at a Law firm or similar organization is preferable along with experience in marketing communications, journalism, or public relations.

Office Location: New York, NY or Roseland, NJ

Schedule: Full-Time

Amount of Travel Required: Weekly travel between our NJ and NY office. Periodic travel to our DC and Palo Alto offices.
