The Senior Training Specialist (Mechanical) is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training for the Metropolitan Water District’s Mechanical Apprenticeship Program. You will provide training for vocational, technical, trade skills, and health and safety training to apprentices, journey workers and other non- journey workers within the operations, maintenance, construction and other technical disciplines. Which may include training for the Metropolitan Water District’s System Operating Orders Manual performs examination planning, development and administration of written and practical examinations for non-journey workers through advanced journey-level employees, and for promotional advancement.

Work Schedule: 4/10, Fridays off


EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Associate’s degree and four years of occupational experience in the subject matter area to be taught; or six years of occupational experience, journeyman’s certificate in the subject matter area to be taught, and completion of at least eighteen semester units of degree applicable college level course work, in addition to apprenticeship credits; or two years as a Training Specialist.


Subject matter area is defined as: Two or more journey-level disciplines and related skills in millwright, pipe-fitter, welder, machinist, rigger and crane operator)

Desirable Qualifications: May require community college teacher or instructor credentials or equivalent.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s):

  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.

Desirable Certification(s): System Operating Order Manual (SOOM) Mechanical
