Position Overview:

The Sr. Director Procurement and Facilities sits within the Finance team and is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing and procurement strategies, processes and programs to improve purchasing controls and to help meet company-wide cost saving objectives in partnership with the Chief Financial Officer. This position will play a central and critical role in building out foundational capabilities and process disciplines in all areas of procure-to-pay. Additionally, this role will take the lead in building and managing our facilities strategy and execution for the Zelis team which is based throughout several large physical offices in multiple states as well as increasingly remote-based team members.  

This position will work closely with our stakeholders to align on business priorities and drive outcomes through technology, improving processes and optimizing results.  Procurement will oversee the implementation of purchasing and procurement contracts for products and services, and will help to develop strong supplier relationships, assess performance of key suppliers and spend categories to develop business improvement plans that deliver sustainable value to the organization. This role will support the business in developing a consistent approach to ensure ongoing development of standards, purchasing policies and guidelines to enable more effective decision-making and cost-effective purchasing in a high growth organization.  Success in this role will require taking initiative and finding innovative ways to deliver solutions to our business units and shared services teams.

 Key responsibilities:Leadership: Partner with operating and financial leaders in the company to understand requirements and priorities impacting the procure to pay process. Build effective partnerships with department leads to help drive the business toward achieving company objectives. Set policy and SLAs and ensure performance to meet them. Ensure efficient and effective processes backed by documentation. Partner with Finance for alignment of processes, controls and KPI tracking, and play a key role in implementing the necessary controls and processes associated with Sarbanes-Oxley.   Expand our supplier diversity efforts, including seeking out and encouraging the utilization and exposure of Minority and Woman Business Enterprises.  Responsible for the Accounts Payable and Travel Expense Management teams with resources in multiple locations.

 Purchase Ordering and Invoice Management: Oversee team activity including purchase orders, processing invoices, check requests and direct payments originated by suppliers. Management of financial transactions, monitoring and tracking activities of work in progress to ensure timely creation and updates of purchase orders, and timely payment of invoices, while ensuring the accuracy of information and compliance with policy and contractual obligations. Oversight of purchasing card and other approaches to optimize working capital.

Procurement Technology:  Sets vision for procurement technology to support efficient and effective procurement operations. Teams closely with IT to actively pursue advancement of procurement technology. Manages behavior around the tools including training, policies, guides, and maximization of usage. 

Spend and other Procurement Analytics:  Create visibility to third party expenses on a recurring basis using automated techniques and advanced tools. Analyze and communicate key findings to multiple stakeholders for business planning and strategic sourcing purposes. Create additional visibility to purchase commitments and variance to budget.

Facilities Management:  Responsible, in coordination with senior leadership (including CEO, CFO, CHRO) for setting strategy for Zelis facilities plans, including designing the appropriate remote work policies and facilities to support new and contemporary work culture.  Work with HR and Finance to implement policies and adjust facility layout and use.  Conduct annual strategic plan to address company growth and geographic footprint changes.  Monitor and execute on key facility KPIs, including cost, quality and employee satisfaction.

 Professional Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have extensive procure to pay and facilities experience as well as a passion for transformation and delivery excellence. 
  • Candidates should have some experience with facilities and lease management.
  • Proven ability to vision, implement, and manage an efficient and effective procure to pay organization
  • 5+ years relevant business experience with demonstrated analytical expertise and problem-solving skills that have led to quantifiable financial impact.
  • Excellent data-driven problem solving and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and manage execution
  • Demonstrated success measured by:
    • Negotiated savings on key spend categories
    • Reduced working capital through expanded DPO performance
    • Workforce satisfaction with office environment
  • Proven ability to drive sourcing savings in a technology-driven environment
  • Experience developing efficiencies through the P2P process
  • Understanding of ERP technology with experience implementing new technology preferred
  • Demonstrate experience in optimizing working capital
