As an Assistant Resource Specialist II (Water Resources Data Specialist), you will assist with economic, scientific, and policy analyses related to Metropolitan's various imported and local water supply programs. Such programs may include agricultural partnerships in the Colorado River Basin, State Water Project operations, urban turf removal, conservation projects, storage and transfer programs, and open data initiatives, among others.

Working within a small and data-literate team, you will assist in quantifying the benefits and costs of both new and proposed water policies and programs, using techniques such as exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, supply and demand forecasting, remote sensing, geospatial analysis, and machine learning. You will also draft technical memos, prepare policy recommendations, and create presentations to communicate results of studies and projects.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience; or two years in a MWD Assistant Resource Specialist I classification.

Relevant Experience is defined as: work experience in water resources, data management and analysis, statistical modeling or econometrics, geographic information systems, or remote sensing.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
