As a Power and Electric Engineer for the United States' largest distributor of treated water you will have the opportunity to manage critical projects that help Metropolitan fulfill its mission to the public. Your primary focus will revolve around two areas: electric apparatus (transformers, motors, generators, circuit breakers, etc.) and electric system protection. This is not a design engineering job.
You will utilize your knowledge and experitise related to high voltage (above 600 Volts) power system engineering and practices; electric power system apparatus; industry standards, applicable regulations and codes (including NEC, NESC, NFPA, WECC, and NERC standards); power system analysis; and the ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues.
Your ability to effectively plan, schedule, manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously is critical. Within this role you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your wide range of knowledge, skills and experience with: engineering studies and reports; oral presentations; the explanation of complex technical concepts in simple terms; industry standard power system analysis software packages such as SKM, ETAP, ASPEN, or CAPE; electromechanical as well as micro-processor based relays; electric machines including synchronous machines and associated excitation systems, transformers, cables, and circuit breakers; NETA maintenance and acceptance testing standards; high voltage switching and related safety practices and working level knowledge of the principles and applications of transmission and distribution system protection.
You will also be responsible for determining the fitness for service of electrical apparatus based on diagnostic test results. Your ability to work effectively with others and deliver exceptional work in a deadline driven environment is crucial.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level.
Related Field is defined as: electrical engineering, power engineering, or another engineering degree directly related to electrical.
Relevant Experience is defined as: work experience with electric system protection, electric apparatus engineering, power system engineering, plant electrical engineering (hydroelectric, combined cycle, petrochemical, or similar) or substation commissioning.
