Your research will focus on evaluating new technologies, and developing new or improved processes and/or analytical methods as they apply to Metropolitan’s advanced water treatment processes for potable reuse and distribution systems in addition to collaborating with universities and subject-matter experts.

Its process train will treat non-nitrified secondary effluent or primary effluent from the Joint Water Pollution Control Plant (JWPCP) with a membrane bioreactor (MBR), reverse osmosis (RO) membrane, and advanced oxidation processes (AOP) using ultraviolet light (UV/AOP) in combination with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) or chlorine. In addition, microfiltration and ozone in combination with biofiltration will be incorporated for future studies.
