Under administrative direction of the Unit or Section Manager, this position provides supervisory, management and support services to the Treatment Operations & Maintenance Team and will have specialized skills relative to the assigned area of responsibility.

The Treatment Operations & Maintenance Team is comprised of certified water treatment plant operators. The Team Manager will be responsible for operations activities of the Mills Water Treatment Plant, ensuring the plant is operating in compliance with all Metropolitan water quality and supply standards in an environmentally and economically responsible and safe manner. In addition, the Team Manager will make decisions that affect the treatment processes and supervise others who operate the treatment plant. The Team is comprised of operators of varying levels of training and experience who provide shift operations of the plant and associated systems. The Team Manager is responsible for coordinating the operations with maintenance activities in conjunction with other Team Managers.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience equaling 8 years of increasingly responsible experience, of which 3 years must have been in a project management, supervisory or lead position. An example of a combination of education and experienced would be:

A high school diploma or high school certificate of equivalency and 8 years of increasingly responsible experience, of which 3 years must have been in a project management, supervisory or lead position; OR

An associate’s degree from an accredited college or technical school and 6 years of increasingly responsible experience, of which 3 years must have been a in a project management, supervisory or lead position; OR

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 4 years of increasingly responsible experience, of which 3 years must have been in a project management, supervisory or lead position;


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Driver’s license equivalent to a California Class C is required at time of application.
  • A current valid Grade IV Water Treatment (T4) Operator Certificate, as issued by the State of California is required at time of application.
  • The successful candidate must obtain a T5 Operator Certification as issued by the State of California within 24 months of entry date into the classification or they will be classified as a Team Manager IV.
