JOB PURPOSE:    

Teacher/Artist of Trumpet to begin August 18, 2020

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Teach studio trumpet, recruit undergraduate and graduate trumpet majors and maintain a high-quality trumpet studio, coordinate the brass area, perform as a soloist and in ensembles, participate in outreach activities, and serve as liaison with regional music educators. Additional teaching responsibilities may include other assignments according to the interests of the candidate and needs of the department. Work cooperatively and collegially with all department stakeholders. Establish a reputation for high quality performance in the region, nationally, and internationally. Assume normal professional duties, such as creative activity, service, and student advising. Contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of the University.


 

 

Assistant professors shall normally hold the terminal qualification in their discipline (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., MFA, etc.), and shall have demonstrated ability, through appropriate experience, to perform the functions of the position they are to hold.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

Doctorate Required at the time of appointment in August 2020. The successful candidate must have a record as a versatile performer and teacher with successful experience teaching at the university level.

Strong consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to preparing students for 21st century teaching and performing careers.
